Two main types of research papers are argumentative and analytical; for both of these the authors select a topic and explore that topic. Information on research papers can be found on the Purdue OWL website: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/658/01/.
Additionally, a good resource for learning about research is the database LearningExpress Library. To access the list of databases, go to the LRC homepage and click on Databases, or click here. You will see a list of databases. Scroll down to LearningExpress Library and select it. If you are off campus, you will need to put in a username and a password. Your username is your 7-digit TCL ID. Your password is your first initial of your first name followed by the last three digits of your social security number.
If you have never used LearningExpress Library before, click “Register” under “New Users.” Fill in the fields. For more details, view the LearningExpress LibGuide. If you already have an account, type in the username and password that you created for LearningExpress.
