In our recently updated service pack, the SafeAssignment is now an option with the "Assignment" creation page. This has an inherent advantage in that you can take an existing Assignment and make it a SafeAssignment at a later time. In previous versions of Bb, you would select "SafeAssignment" from a list of Assessment options.
To set up a SafeAssignment, navigate to a content are within your Bb course and select "Assignment" from the dropdown list under the "Assessment" option.
On the next page, you can provide a name, instructions, add due dates, etc. to the assignment. If your scroll down to the "Grading" area of the page, you will see options for "Submission Details." Click this link to change the number of attempts allowed and to enable or disable the plagiarism checking (SafeAssign) features.
To make a SafeAssignment, you will need to check the option "Check submissions for plagiarism using SafeAssign."
If you want students to see a copy of the SafeAssign originality report, you can check this next option.
If you want your students to be able to check a draft version of their work, without submitting it to the database, you can check the "Exclude submissions from the Institutional and Global References Databases" option. If you leave this option unchecked, submitted work will be added to the databases for comparison to future submissions.
Finally, when ready, don't forget to make the assignment available to your students. When finished click "Submit."
